WHERE YOUR FEET ARE

Be where your feet are an amazing concept I got to learn from one of my very close friends @Hera. As a creative scatter brain sometimes I think more about the future and what can be instead of being in the moment and living in the now. For me this is a concept I have had to learn and be intentional and deliberate about. While it did take some time to be where my feet are coming across this was one of the best things I would say I discovered in the year that was.

The concept of being where feet are is as literal as it can be. Learning to be present in what you are doing, in an experience, a conversation, your workplace and generally in life. It means not thinking of where to go next or plan for the future or even romanticize the past when your life is currently happening to you. As human being more often than not we are wired to think of what is to come and what we can be and we always forget to think of the reality of where we are.

As I explored this concept one thing it helped me come to terms with is my current reality. When you can be able to see where your feet are you will know when you are stepping on hot coal and its burning your legs, or on stable ground that steady’s you. That means you are able to do something about your current situation. It allows you to be in touch with your reality. Don’t get it twisted you should dream and plan and set goals but constantly thinking about what your future could be without thinking about what your current life is or as others would put it kwa ground is detrimental if asked. You become a slave to an illusion of a future that you might never achieve because all futures are a result of our current actions and what we do now not in the future or the past.

The Car

If I were to use the analogy of driving a car ( Another way of God reminding me to get the DL lol). When driving a car you have the rear view mirror that allows you to see the cars coming from behind to keep you in check as you drive. There is a reason as to why its small because we aren’t meant to stay in the past its just meant to remind us how far we have come and give us lessons to move forward. We aren’t meant to obsess over it both the struggles we went through or the victories we achieved. Imagine what would happen if you are driving and your constantly looking at the rear view mirror ?

When it come to the windscreen it allows you to see where you are going which is similar to the goals we set and the things we aspire to be. There is a reason I guess it’s also the big mirror  because our destinations and possibilities are endless just like the road ahead of you. But imagine if all you did was stare at the road ahead without not doing anything you’d never move but it would be good to look at the road ahead. Also you’d never get to see the rest of the road

Brings us where your feet are when driving on the accelerator because that is the only way you are able to move forward. When you engage your mind on where your feet are the accelerator and break pedal and the steering wheel. You move forward you learn, you feel the wind blow against your skin as you drive. Need we talk about the car karaokes that make the ride fun and worth while. Even so there are days when the weather is not the best but you keep your feet on the gas and push through learn how to navigate potholes and floods,  mist and dust and you get through it. That is what life is about if you ask me being where our feet are and moving towards where we want them to be without missing out on the wind, the music, the harsh weather and the carversations.
