The Journey…

Happy new year readers. I hope your year began with love and light? Mine surely did and after a long time of not writing I’m happy to be lost in words again. Maybe not Shakespeare yet, but even he started from somewhere right? I will be heavy on the journey this year with everything hence the main focus of this blog. The destination always seems amazing, looks shiny in our heads and probably seems like the price. However we miss out on the things that matter which is the journey.

Let’s dedicate this year to being present during the journey and taking the next step rather than romanticizing the destination and missing out on the in-between. Heard someone say that the destination is just a side effect of the journey and I agree with these sentiments. Truth is along the journey we might change course or settle down or maybe get our big break and then it will be it. It’s the climax of a story. If we are being honest with ourselves we enjoy the drama before the climax, the build up and the anticipation. We savor the memories of the journey because the rush of the destination happens once and that’s it but the real story is in the how we got there.

I am a huge fan of rom coms and if you’ve read some of my previous work that’s not news to you. All rom coms have one common ending. The boy gets the girl and we are happy and mushy inside, the cliche. Despite knowing this we still watch the different versions of love stories. The build up is different, the conflict is different and each lover’s journey is unique. So we will watch different movies in different languages (e.g Thapki  IYKYK) and be invested in these stories even though we know the end.

Just Start the journey

For a moment, in this moment, be honest with yourself, you have already seen the end of things and envisioned where you want to be. The journey however, that’s the scary part because it’s where the work is and within it lies uncertainty of the outcome but it’s the best part of our lives. Fact is it’s also the only way to get to the destination so just start with fear, start with uncertainty start with the rough sketched plan. JUST START.

I recently graduated from campus and I thought that the graduation day would be the climax of it all. Let me tell you Maina turns out it isn’t. Many times I find myself going back to the moments and the steps that lead me here, the experiences, decisions and the beautiful people I met along the journey. That’s what matters most to me now. It’s like taking a trip. We are more likely to enjoy the scenery on our way. Just like a trip, that’s how life is, putting in the work is way more rewarding than the price at the end.

So I haven’t yet mastered my content creation journey, that’s my writing. Even so I am enjoying the journey of storytelling and sharing experiences, my imaginations and other random stuff. I thought I lost my writer’s mojo for a minute until I started writing. So I don’t know what destination you’ve envisioned for yourself but I challenge you to be more excited for the journey. Also roll up your sleeves because like every good romcom there will be a point of tears and heart wrenching scenes before the final laugh. Buckle up because life’s one hell of a roller coaster trip.

P.S ; Feels good to be back
